Print: Wanted Dead or Alive!
Saturday, 11th August from 3pm-5pm
Siddhartha Hall, Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan

The print medium is on an upswing in India; rising disposable incomes and increasing literacy levels have led to a veritable explosion in the print media with innumerable periodicals and magazines having been launched in the past few years. Many of these magazines even cater to niche audiences. Inspite of this rise in the number of magazines there are very few periodic magazines that specifically look into the field of photography as an art form. There are many general photography magazines that admirably address the technical side of photography along with theme based photography magazines. However, these are too little to address a rapidly rising medium with more and more young photographers emerging every year.

This upward trend defines a need for a self-sustaining photography magazine that gives prime space to a photographer’s work and also initiates critical dialogues about historical and contemporary photography’s practitioners and processes.

Print: Wanted Dead or Alive! is an interaction being organised by Goa-CAP and Aksgar in collaboration with Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan; where prominent editors, curators and publishers from the art, photography and media world will discuss in an informal setting the need for a periodic contemporary art photography magazine in India and the possibilities and pitfalls for such a venture.

Opening with a presentation from Rahaab Allana on PIX followed by a presentation by Radhika Singh (Founder Fotomedia and Editor, Camerawork Delhi), a presentation by Rahul Bhattacharya about his experience in working as Managing Editor – Art & Deal Magazine and a video presentation by Lola MacDougall, Executive Editor, Punctum.
There after the floor shall be open for discussion.
