FUNDAMENTALS OF FILM PHOTOGRAPHY – Black and White Camera and Darkroom

Start off by learning the principles and the details of exposure and the elements of good composition, followed by shooting a roll of Black and White film on your 35mm. Learn how to process your film and obtain negatives for printing. The course will also teach you how to make black and white prints in darkroom facilities. The majority of class time is devoted to working in the darkroom and building printing techniques. Assignments and critiques encourage the development of both skills and style of the student

INTERMEDIATE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY – Black and White Camera and Darkroom

This course further explores and refines student’s technical and aesthetic skills in black and-white photography. The course emphasizes on the darkroom techniques like burning and dodging. Most of the time will be devoted to hands-on printing and experimenting with chemistry. The course offers step-by-step instructions to the art of mixing chemistry and calculating appropriate processing times. Assignments and critiques encourage the development of both skills and style of the student.

PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY

This course offers a chance to explore the basic notion and engineering of the elusive pinhole camera and then apply these principals to their own creations. Recycled and alternative materials will be played with (including matchbox, milk tins, coke cans, etc…). The second half of the workshop will be spent testing the new alternative camera—taking pictures and experimenting with self-portraiture and landscape photos. This course will also explore various methods of printing and transferring images in the darkroom. We will make pinhole cameras and paper negatives followed by investigating the ways to make positives out of these negatives through coating paper.

INTRODUCTION TO DAGUERREOTYPE
